Trionfa la creatura immaginata da Guillermo Del Toro, agli Oscar 2018: "La Forma dell'Acqua" ("The Shape of Water") ha vinto quattro statuette su 13 nomination, tra cui quella per Miglior Film. Due premi per "Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri", con Frances McDormand che ha portato a casa l'Oscar come Migliore Attrice.
In Italia festeggiamo la vittoria di "Chiamami col tuo nome", che ha vinto l'Oscar per la Miglior Sceneggiatura Non Originale. James Ivory, che ha adattato il romanzo di André Aciman per il film, ha ringraziato dal palco il regista Luca Guadagnino per "la sua sensibilità".
